As summer 2019 came to an end, I moved into a century old apartment in the neighborhood of Rosepark, Long Beach. I lived on 8th street, a short walk to the bus stop on 7th. I road the 91 to and from campus each day. As I walked to the bus stop, I noticed a line of people that wrapped around Temple Baptist Church on Wednesday mornings. A few Wednesday’s passed when I realized that these people were in line for food. One Wednesday morning I found the courage to approach the church and asked if I could volunteer. They welcomed me with open arms and soon I became a part of their family. Since then, I have devoted my Wednesday mornings to passing out food to the local people of my community.
